The SP583 echoes the slim-fitting leathers that defined a generation of musicians in the late 1960s and early 1970s, jackets that looked just as much at home onstage as they did on the street. Cut from naked cowhide with a pointed collar and lapel, its patchwork front carries the handmade character that sets these pieces apart.
Hip length and close to the body, the SP583 captures the raw, rising energy of an artist on the verge of something bigger, a silhouette tied to moments when ambition and authenticity met under the bright lights. Inside, a polysatin lining keeps the fit smooth and easy.
In 1975, photographer Terry O'Neil was driving to Tower Records on the Sunset Strip in Loas Angeles when Bruce Springsteen just happened to be walking out of the store at the same time. Springsteen was there to see a billboard for his breakout album, Born to Run, which was displayed across the street. Recognizing the opportune moment, O'Neil quickly introduced himself to Springsteen and took a now iconic photograph of a 25-year-old Springsteen on his ascent to stardom.
