SLIM HORSEHIDE 'ONE STAR' PERFECTO® MOTORCYCLE JACKET

The 613SH is one of the more traditional Perfecto cuts and the epitome of the term, "old school" for two reasons: horsehide and the lack of underarm footballs. It was common for early (30s-40s) motorcycle jackets to be made from horsehide because of its durability and increased water resistance due to its density. For cultural and industrial reasons, cow and steerhide became more accepted standards in 1950s America.

Underarm "footballs," the additional vented flaps between the sleeve and back area meant for a fuller range of mobility, weren't invented until the 1980s, leaving the 613SH with a slimmer arm profile, but a potentially smaller range of motion that it's modern counterparts. If you're more of a historical purist - the 613SH might suit you best.

The 613SH is proudly Made In The USA at our factory in Union, New Jersey with European raw material tanned in Italy.

  About this leather: Horsehide - Horsehide is actually a traditional hide that we used to make many of our earliest jackets. It is a timeless material renowned for its exceptional durability and distinctive aesthetic. Initially having a shiny finish and a stiff feel, it will with time mold to your form becoming uniquely yours. With a warmth equal to cowhide, this is a leather that will last a lifetime.
